Postponed – The Body as a Garden: Creative Writing Workshop with Enoch the Poet

May 11, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Postponed – The Body as a Garden: Creative Writing Workshop with Enoch the Poet | Thurs, May 11, 2023 | 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm EDT | In-person

This event has been postponed for the May 11th date. We will post the rescheduled date shortly. Please check back soon.

Join us for an evening of creativity, healing, and writing with The Body as a Garden workshop led by Enoch the Poet. Enoch’s workshops conceptualize the body as various environments in order to identify and deepen our understanding of self, our connection to our body, and the information they are trying to communicate with us daily. The Body as Garden challenges participants to ponder the thoughts, patterns, emotions, and habits that have been nurtured in our body’s garden.

Portrait of Enoch the Poet

Enoch is a poet, author, trauma-informed teaching artist, and creator and writer for the manga series Immortal Dark. He was born and raised in the Northside of Wilmington, DE. As a mental health advocate and someone living with bi-polar disorder, his work examines the process of healing and the ways that trauma and mental health move through a family, as well as the outside forces that affect or have affected these developments. His goal is to create written works, curricula, and platforms that deepen our emotional understanding and its cyclical relation to the conditions acting on the Black mind, body, and spirit. Enoch is the 2017 Philadelphia Fuze Grand Slam Champion and the author of two poetry collections, The Guide to Drowning, released in 2017, and Burned at the Roots, released in 2020.

Enoch operates as the Executive Publisher and Founder of Black Minds Publishing, LLC, a national publications platform centered around the personal and professional growth of artists and creatives of the Black diaspora.

The Museum for Art in Wood interprets, nurtures, and champions creative engagement and expansion of art, craft, and design in wood to enhance the public’s understanding and appreciation of it.
