Week 8 was busy, but went really smoothly, thanks to the work of Alex Felix and everyone at the Center. We had our work ready to go when they sent the van, we were able to pick up a large piece from Janice’s house without trouble, and the day of the Opening went off without a hitch. It was so much fun, so exhausting, and I was so so proud to be a part of this group and this program. Below are pictures from the installed show, as well as images from our meetings and video documentation on the day of the opening, and the gallery talks the night of the opening. One of the unique parts of this residency is how much documentation goes into it – not just from me as the visual documentarian, but from the Center as well! From the exhibition pamphlet, to beautiful photographs of each work in the show, to a video of each artist talking about their work, the Center works hard to help tell the story of what this residency means to those lucky enough to participate!
The residency was fun, challenging, energizing and full of amazing connections and overlaps with people I look forward to knowing for a very long time. A humongous thank you to the Center for Art in Wood, all of the sponsors who support this program and others like it, and especially to my resident fellows. Y’all were the best weird wood nerd family a girl could ever have. Much love and happy making to all of you out there in the world!
