What is wood turning?
Do you produce production turning or wood pieces onsite?
The Center does not offer wood turning services. We can refer you to makers in the Philadelphia region whose expertise is production turning (i.e. architectural elements such as spindles, newl posts, chair legs, etc.). Please email [email protected] for further information.
I have wood (or a recent fallen tree to dispose of) to give to artists, what can I do with it?
Email a short description of the wood and your timeline for disposal to [email protected]. We email this information out to local wood turning clubs and artists. They contact owners directly.
How do I become a member?
Our website is the easiest way to join. Members receive a discount in the Len Scherock Museum Store, as well as other perks. To learn more about membership levels and benefits, visit our Memberships page.
Do volunteer opportunities exist and, if so, how do I become a volunteer?
Yes, the Center is always looking for volunteers. We frequently need volunteers for everything from office assistance to helping with a special reception. If you would like to volunteer, email [email protected]. Let us know when you’re available (weekly, monthly) and how you’d like to help – office work, greeting visitors, receptions, special events, etc.
How can I be in an exhibition at the Center?
The Center works with an Exhibitions Committee to develop exhibitions at the Center. The Center creates “calls for work” or an independent curator is chosen to select artists for exhibitions. For “calls for work” members and individuals on our email list will receive information in direct mailings and through email. We will have opportunities posted on our website when available so check back frequently. To submit a proposal to the Exhibition Committee please review the Exhibition Proposal Guidelines. For more information about our exhibitions or to submit a proposal please email [email protected].
