Notes: John Halett saw a spindle in that huge trunk of wood. He could see the potential and art within the tree and he wanted to let it out, free it to the outside world. To free this object from the beholder, John had to turn the wood to reveal its center. Through repetition, learning from it and believing in the process, he was able to release the natural wild of the object and within himself, revealing a spindle within the trunk. Through the process of creating it, John also taught me how to turn and enabled me to turn a baseball bat for my son.
