Notes: In regard to my two pieces in this exhibition, at first I did not see a relation between Sandy’s Child #8 and the CORES piece, but, upon further reflection I can now discern a through-line. I believe they speak to each other and to my growth as an artist. Both pieces represent the transformation of a piece of wood that would normally be considered expendable into something artistic. Robin Wood’s cores usually end up in his fireplace, yet he sent me this particular rough piece by way of the Center.
