Notes: When I reflect upon Hemisphere and it’s inclusion in the Center’s Roll Call in 2007, I do so with rather warm memories. That particular time period marked my initial and continued involvement in higher education full-time. It also brought me into contact with an array of other educators and the works they and their students had produced. It also allowed me to write a brief essay for the Center’s publication, Turning Points, considering the works and what they may or may not have encapsulated. I would consider that work from 2007 a narrative mid-scale sculpture. It utilized cast finch forms and all of their associations to build a rather ranging dialog with the viewer concerning our natural world, human kinds’ intervention in it, and the shape and relation of communities. It was a point, on a line-of-works that I was making, which incorporated aviary forms to make visually manifest personal observations.
