Notes: 1999 “Turned Multiples” an exhibition of contemporary lathe-turned objects, based on the concept of “the multiple” co-hosted by the Wood Turning Center (now The Center for Art in Wood), Philadelphia; and Craft Alliance Gallery in St. Louis, Missouri. Each artist produced a series of objects which were connected in some way. For that exhibit, I turned five forms using wood from the same board. By cutting, carving, and adding elements, I revealed what I saw within each form. Its title, From Within Our Own Bodies, represents observations about humans: We are all made of the same stuff, but within each body, a unique person resides.
