Notes: Exhibited in the “Turned Objects Show” and published in the exhibition catalog, A Gallery of Turned Objects, edited by Albert LeCoff, 1981. My first experience turning wood came in 1978 when I was a student at Brigham Young University (BYU). I was fortunate to be under the mentorship of the late Dale Nish, and was his Teacher’s Assistant at the time when he established the Utah Woodturning Symposium. As a result of my association will Dale, I was exposed to the work of many of the leading turners of the time. I soon developed a passion for turning that has only increased in the years that followed. The 1981 “Turned Objects Show,” with the accompanying exhibition catalog, A Gallery of Turned Objects, remains a particularly significant exhibition to me because it was the first national juried exhibition that I submitted work to and had work accepted. Being relatively new to woodturning, having my work shown alongside turnings by many of those who had inspired me was very meaningful.
