The Center’s “From Tree to Me: Journeys in Wood” educational programming brings you another great exhibition-inspired, hands-on art workshop. Inspired by the current exhibit, YOUR PERSONAL HANG-UPS, curated by Gail M. Brown. Whether you’re quiet and sensitive or loud and funky, our new “Portrait Painting Meets Cabinets of Curiosities” art workshop is the perfect fit for everyone! walks-ins welcome!
$25 for non-members | $20 for members
From 11 a.m. to 1 1 p.m., join artists Ron Humbertson, Director of Exhibitions and Collections at the Center, and Rachel Bliss to paint a portrait of yourself, your favorite person, or animal. Take a break at 1 p.m. while your painting dries and grab some lunch, tour our galleries or peruse our museum store for small scale items (fairly traded and fairly priced) perfect for hanging or sitting inside your cabinet. Then from 2 to 4 p.m., select a box and supplies for your portrait to design and embellish YOUR PERSONAL HANG-UPS cabinet. Use it to hang keys, jewelry, store or display your favorite special treasures.
Below are images from both the December 2012 and January 2013 Portrait Painting Meets Cabinets of Curiosities Workshops.
