Notes: Wrapt was first exhibited and published in 2003 in Challenge VI—Roots: Insights & Inspirations in Contemporary Turned Objects. The touring exhibit, mounted by The Wood Turning Center as it was known in 2001, exposed my work to art enthusiasts, collectors and the general public across the country. The exhibition catalog, published in 2003, remains a permanent record that has become a part of reference libraries. Wrapt is a big leaf maple burl vessel, inlaid with resins colored to resemble earthy pigments and includes gold leaf. The drape-like pattern was inspired after viewing Itchiku Kubota’s Landscape Kimonos at the Smithsonian and, at the time, the expanse of inlay was considered by me to be significant.
