Notes: Through the years I have developed my art in a linear fashion where each piece spawns ideas for the next. Usually the connection is apparent in the resulting design, but sometimes the connection is a new turning technique that results in an object quite different. “Wave Theory Vessel” is a new design that shares several elements with my earlier work — it is made from rosewood and created using rose-engine turning techniques. The result is also geometric waves but in this case they emanate across a planar surface. And here the handmade patterns are allowed to intersect with the natural wood grain in an arrangement of unpredictable visual interactions. Add to this the interplay of light with surface reflections and another dimension emanates. The result is both complex and classic beauty, something I strive to achieve in every piece I create.
