Notes: With my most current piece, the Transcending Wings necklace, I was once again challenged with attachment. I originally made the walnut base with abalone and after bringing it together with a sterling box chain, I was not at all happy with the result. So I sanded the back side finish off, and tediously cut and sanded each Maple Burl feather. Finally, I decided to use a waterproof wood glue - being super careful to place each feather correctly. The final result was realized with Tiger Eye stones across the front and beaded together for the necklace. Being in the Center for Art in Wood’s exhibits has meant a lot to me, allowing so many people to view and connect with my work and the energy that has been carefully crafted into each piece. Maybe one day my efforts will help another artist realize a potential part of process that they could incorporate into their work.
