Notes: Ever since, I have continued to play with the bowl form. This new carved piece is one in a series of Morphed Bowls. The edges of these bowls move in and out, and some like this one, pour out their inner space to the space surrounding them. A bowl was one of the first things that I wanted to make once my work expanded from carpentry, furniture, and doors. Not having a lathe I devised a way to use the tools I had to carve one. It was very exciting to be included in the 2007 “Coming of Age” exhibit at the Wood Turning Center. Trio, 3 conjoined bowls carved from a single piece of wood, was a new exploration of the bowl form for me and was part of this exhibit. I have continued to play with the bowl form since then.
