Notes: When I saw fellow 2015 ITE resident Adrien Segal holding the piece of wood, which became One with the Piece, and how her hand conformed with the shape she was creating – it looked as though they were one entity, growing and evolving together. I pondered whether Adrien created the beautiful form because she responded to the sensuous feel and shape of the wood, or did the wood respond to her hand - creating a bond between them that produced this beautiful, elegant piece? I became inspired by this question. And since my creative passion lies in photographing nature - and in particular trees - I went out looking for trees that appeared anthropomorphic which I responded to. The resulting image, Miss Curvaceous, was a tree that I pass frequently when walking in my neighborhood. I have always felt like the tree had a beautiful female presence. I enjoyed looking at its curved, textured trunk and was pleased when its female life-force came across in my photograph with the result being an image depicting admiration of nature, form and female strength.
