Notes: In 1979, I started wood turning. In 1990, I entered a BFA program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania with concentrations in furniture design, wood turning, sculpture and jewelry. My newly acquired skills enabled me to create "Midge". I work to create pieces that tell small stories common to many of us, many with humor. I saw an advertisement for the Challenge V turned objects show and entered with low expectations. Being accepted for that show exposed me to a world of creativity of which I was barely aware, and gave me motivation to continue on this path. Creating pieces, sending photos to Albert, and receiving encouragement have been some of the benefits I have received from The Center for Art in Wood.
