Notes: Opposition is still an important theme that I use in my work. In the recent piece I use similar compositional elements such as the circle/hole to rest the eye and move you through the form; curved forms extending from a central point to create a flow or growth outward; hand-worked textures to seduce the eye and leave evidence of the makers interaction; contained space to hold a presence and create an awareness of the space; a suggestion of movement through space and time. All these compositional elements create the vitality and resonance that appeal to me. Thanks to The Center for Art in Wood for providing a venue to share such works. Being in these exhibits has given me the opportunity to show with many other makers that I admire and has exposed me to many artists and works that I most likely would not have seen. Thanks CAW!!!
