James Johnson

James Johnson

Flat Matter is part of a new group of works that James Johnson is developing based on research he conducted while on sabbatical from his teaching appointment at Moore College of Art and Design. With this object, Johnson leverages the language of art/artifact display to investigate notions of collecting and consumerism during the anthropocene. Johnson has focused his recent research on new materials, digital fabrication technologies, economic theory, and speculative realist philosophy. The primary subject of his current work is how the internet and technological innovation are evolving human vision.

James Johnson was invited to participate in Other Selections by Sean Stoops, an independent curator.
