After visiting The Center for Art in Wood, and listening to Albert’s stories relating to their collection, I found myself drawn to a few specific pieces that struck me for their simplicity yet intricacy in the amount of work and craft put into the final outcome. One piece overall stood out for me, Gord Peteran’s Two Bracelets. As I understood it, Albert mentioned that as part of the ITE, sketching is encouraged, and Gord’s piece came out as a result. My pencil drawing is a direct response to Gord’s work as well as the ITE tradition to encourage sketching.
