DESCRIPTION:Craft NOW Philadelphia was launched in 2015 by a consortium of two dozen individuals\, galleries\, museums\, universities\, retailers and civic organizations whose mission is to promote Philadelphia as a national center of craft and making. SUMMARY:Craft NOW Kick Off--Production Values: The Relevance of Technique in Contemporary Art and Design
DESCRIPTION:A symposium\,Technicalities: Meaning in Methods\, October 29-30\, 2016\, will be presented in conjunction with Wood\, Revisited\, October 28\, 2016 through April 8\, 2017\,  and the concurrent exhibition at The Clay Studio\, Transference: Transfer Printing and Contemporary Ceramics\, October 7 through November 27\, 2016. The discussions will explore new and traditional methods and their conceptual repercussions in the contemporary wood and ceramic art fields. \nProduction Values: The Relevance of Technique in Contemporary Art and Design is the keynote address by Glenn Adamson on Friday\, October 28\, 2016 at 5:30 will also celebrate the kick off of Craft NOW’s 2016 season. A reception will follow the talk at both The Center for Art in Wood and The Clay Studio from 7-8:30. The keynote is free and open to the public\, but registration is required.
